The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, which was my pick from the Domaine’s portfolio last year, has a very understated bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass, unfolding brambly red berries (cranberry and strawberry), laced by woodland scents. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, very delineated and poised with a lovely prickle of spice on the finish. This is what a Savigny Premier Cru should be. Excellent. VN
